Experience and Subjective Sense of Welfare by Elderlies Participating in Senior Employment Programs

ABSTRACT

This research intends to provide basic materials required for social welfare policy alternatives that should be prepared by the government and society by studying subjective sense of welfare and impact on life of elderlies who are participating in Senior Employment programs in Korea where the population is aging rapidly and there are not enough jobs for the elderly. The subjects of the research were elderlies participating in Senior Employment programs for 60-years old and above in Y Social Welfare Center, J Social Welfare Center, Y Senior Club in Y-gu areas of B city. The research methods were self-administered questionnaire survey and one-on-one interviews. As a result, the participation of Senior Employment programs had significant impact on the lives of the elderlies. It was not just means of living but a pathway to develop and realize them. Therefore, long-term and structured systems concerning expansion of social participation by jobs and future direction of employment business are required. Also, customized and convergent welfare contents should be developed by taking into account the actual situations of Korea such as more efficient and practical elderly resources utilization methods, etc. The abstract is to be in fully-justified italicized text as it is here, below the author information.
